Avon Walk for Breast Cancer – Charlotte (Part 3 – The Walk)

The first day of the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer - Charlotte, 2013 started with the alarm going off at 0'dark thirty. We popped out of bed, got dressed, grabbed some coffee and headed downstairs to walk over to opening ceremonies.  Jessica ran into a walker (Connie) who was doing the walk alone and she became an honorary member of our team.  Connie walked with us on and off for the next two days. I participate with AWBC because it is a well run organization.  A large portion of the money raised in each city is gifted to hospitals and other agencies supporting breast cancer causes (detection, research, treatment) in the area around the city that the walk takes place.  At closing … [Read more...]

Donating and Volunteering – Avon Walk for Breast Cancer

Anytime I can pair up something I already do, like shop, with something that provides for someone in need, I try to.  Can't get much easier than that. Sometimes it feels a little self serving, like the other day when I got an additional percentage off my purchase at Macy's for donating $9 which would buy books for kids in need. The amount I got off my purchase was way more than … [Read more...]
