Life Isn’t a Trial Run

Today someone said to me “life isn’t a trial run, you only get one shot at it so make it good”. This made me think. This statement probably hit me a bit differently than it would have on another day because over the last 24 hours I have heard about two people I am acquainted with that died suddenly, unexpectedly and way before they should have.

We all know, or we should know that life is not a trial run, but I still feel this is a profound statement and something I need to be reminded of every once in a while. Even if you believe in life after death or reincarnation you still only get one shot at this life, so I think we should make it the best we can – work hard, play hard, live well!

Have you ever thought to yourself “next time, I am going to do that differently” or “next time I am going to get dessert” or “next time I going to get the one I really wanted”? I know I have. What if you don’t ever get a “next time”?

We are currently experiencing a rough patch as a nation, perhaps as a world, but I don’t think that should prevent people from living the best possible life they can at this time, in this place.

Don’t wait until next time or next year or tomorrow to live. Create your own destiny and have dessert first! Live life responsibly and with no regrets. You only get this one shot so make it a good one.

I plan to spend the rest of my life living the best life possible – how about you? How do you plan to do this?

  1. I’d like to say that I’m going to get rid of all the negative influences in my life but that’s not always as easy as we’d like. At the very least, I’ll try to let their impact on my life be minimal.

    • That is an excellent plan! I love the comment. We can’t always eliminate negative people, but we can choose how we respond.
