Checking In On My Aspirations 2012

I am not exactly sure how it happened, but the first month of 2012 has come and gone.  This means it is accountability time.  Time to check in on how I am doing with the my 2012 aspirations.  I set them at the beginning of the year and committed to sharing my progress periodically.  I added one since the original post.  It is number 15 on this list.

1. Lose at least 20 pounds.
I have lost a little over 5 pounds since the middle of December.  Only 1 of those pounds in January, but it is still a net loss so I will count this as met for the month of January.

2. Eat at home more and out less
I have done better in this area.  I am eating lunch out less and, as long as I do my prep work on the weekend, am also eating dinner out less.

3. Practice yoga at least twice a week
I met this goal 3 out of 4 weeks.  The week I did not meet the goal I had an appointment one day and was ill the other – life happens.

4. Walk at least twice a week
I met this goal during January!  Getting back into walking regularly made me remember how much I like it and how therapeutic it is for me.

5. Work out with my trainer at least once a week
Met this 3 out of 4 weeks. I had tickets to a show the other week (see date night goal) and wasn’t able to reschedule.

6. Get my creative groove on at least 5 times a week
Not met.  I need to work harder on this one.  I only averaged about 2 times per week.

7. Go to church weekly
Not met.  This one needs a little work.  I missed a couple of Sundays in January.

8. Have a “date” with my husband at least twice a month
Exceeded this one!  Went on 3 dates in January!

9. Spend quality time with my family at least twice a month
Met!  Spent a nice girl’s day out with my Mom and Sister early in the month and a great day with Mom, Dad, Tom and my niece later in the month.  I felt relaxed and fully able to enjoy the time with them.

10. Spend quality time with friends at least once a month
Met and exceeded.  Had lunch with friends at work a couple of times and spent an afternoon enjoying NFL playoffs with friends one weekend.

11. Accept that I can’t make everyone happy all of the time
This is a work in progress.  This might take the year to master – a lifetime of retraining to do.

12. Increase my online presence
Not met.  I was better about this earlier in January.  I need to recommit to this one I think.

13. Continue to develop my craft business on Etsy
Not met.  I created some new designs, but did not make any sales or post any new items.  More work needed.

14. Laugh more and help others do the same
Fail!  This one did not go so well.  I have been pretty intense since the start of the year.  Work has been extra stressful and busy which tends to make me even more focused and intense.  I will make a concerted effort to take it down a notch in February.

15.  Clean out and declutter one room in the house completely each month
I met this one for January.  I cleaned and decluttered the family room.  This included organizing my craft corner, the Wii paraphernalia and the fitness equipment.  No small feat.

All in all, I am going to count this month as a success.  I still have some work to do, but I think that my committment to post updates will help me stay on track.

I would love to hear how everyone else is doing with their New Year’s resolutions/goals/aspirations.
