Independence Day – Family, Food & Fun

Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays. I love everything about it - what it celebrates, how it is celebrated, the weather, the fireworks.... Untethered but not Unhinged

I never realize how stressful my job is and how tethered I am to it until I am on vacation. I am on call hours a day, 7 days a week. I am ultimately responsible for 121 individuals with intellectual disabilities. As a Program Director I have to carry a cell phone and be reachable basically at all times. I am tethered to my work and I take it seriously - maybe overly seriously at times. My job is of my choosing and I generally enjoy what I do. Mid Week Gratitude – An Amazing Life

A couple of weeks ago the Medical Director at the facility I work at announced that our longest-serving consultant would be retiring soon.  Dr. Jerome Tobis had been her mentor and was very dear to her - like a father she said. He was 96 and had been consulting at the facility for many, many years and he was ready to retire. Mid-Week Gratitude Break

It is that time of the week again. Time to let the universe know what I am grateful for right now. This week I am grateful for my great team at work. They threw an amazing Luau for the residents tonight. The turnout was great with many families joining us for the festivities.
