Mid Week Gratitude – An Amazing Life

A couple of weeks ago the Medical Director at the facility I work at announced that our longest-serving consultant would be retiring soon.  Dr. Jerome Tobis had been her mentor and was very dear to her - like a father she said. He was 96 and had been consulting at the facility for many, many years and he was ready to retire. This past Thursday Dr. Tobis came to work, with his hospice nurse in tow.  He signed in like he always had.  He did his work like he always had.  He … [Read more...]

Mid-Week Gratitude Break

Today, again, I am reminded of how grateful I am to have my health. That my body, while not perfect, is strong and serves me well. That all of my limbs and organs are in good working order. That my eyes and ears work sufficiently for me to do what I want and need to do everyday. That nothing nasty is attacking me from the inside out. Yesterday I had three different medical appointments, all routine check-ups, and all is remarkably unremarkable in terms of my health. This is a good thing. I … [Read more...]

Mid-Week Gratitude Break

It has been a while since I have written about gratitude and I have a lot to be grateful for. September was a very difficult month. My Father-in-law passed away suddenly on September 3rd and "Uncle" Chuck followed on September 11th. What I am most grateful for during this difficult time is my support system. My family, friends and co-workers have been extraordinarily supportive and patient as I have dealt with my own grief and have done what I can to support my husband and his family. It has … [Read more...]

Mid-Week Gratitude Break

It is that time of the week again. Time to let the universe know what I am grateful for right now. This week I am grateful for my great team at work. They threw an amazing Luau for the residents tonight. The turnout was great with many families joining us for the festivities. All of the residents, families, staff and volunteer (just one - my Mom!) seemed to have a great time. Everyone worked together to make it happen. We were truly a community tonight with everyone showing up to support the … [Read more...]

Mid-Week Gratitude Break

It is time again for a mid-week gratitude break. This has been a crazy and stressful week for me so I am grateful to have this time to detach from all that is going on and reflect on the good things in my life. This week it took no time at all to come up with what I am currently grateful for.  I am thankful for my husband, Tom. He has been away this week helping his parents out and it has made me realize how much I enjoy having him around, how symbiotic our relationship is and how much our … [Read more...]

Mid-Week Gratitude Break Kickoff

At the risk of sounding cliche, I have led a charmed life.  I am reminded daily how charmed and blessed my life has been. All I need to do is listen to the news or look around me and I am reminded that I don't have anything to complain about - ever. Not that I don't complain sometimes, it just really isn't justified. Like any other person, my life has been a series of ups and downs, but my ups have far outnumbered my downs. I have made mistakes and had successes.  I try to learn something from … [Read more...]
