BeFit Go 30 Min Gym Circuit Workout

I am happy to report that so far I have been able to keep up with my 30 day challenge of being purposefully active for at least 15 minutes per day.  I have been purposefully active for MORE than 15 minutes every day since June 1 when the I began this personal challenge.  I have been staying active in a variety of ways and plan to add to the list of activities I perform as the 30 days continues on. I am excited that this weeks new workout, courtesy of LionsGate Entertainment, is BeFit Go 30 … [Read more...]

30 Day Challenge-Be Active

I have been trying to lose weight for the last several years. I am slowly headed in the right direction, but at a snail's pace. In the past I have been most successful at loosing weight when my activity level was consistently high (like when I was training for marathons). During these times I did little else in my free time except train, but I was in the best shape of my life. I want to get my fitness level back up and my weight down a bit, but I don't want to spend all of my free time working … [Read more...]

BeFit Go By Lionsgate

Lionsgate entertainment is premiering an all-now BeFit Go video today. It is called BeFit Go | 20 Minute Cardio Power. The promotional information sent with the early link to the video describes the workout as "an intense, calorie blasting cardio circuit workout that boosts metabolism through a unique combination of exercises that include ski jumps, air squats, and jumping lunges." I confess, I have not yet done the workout, but I did watch it with my husband who is a boot camp junkie. … [Read more...]

National Yoga Month

September is National Yoga Month (a national observance designated by the Department of Health & Human Services) designed to educate about the health benefits of yoga and to inspire a healthy lifestyle.  As a result you can find a lot of information about yoga this month online. Yoga has been practiced for more than 5,000 years.  Yoga is quite popular in the United States with nearly 11 million people nationally practicing yoga.  Most westernized yoga classes focus on physical poses, called … [Read more...]

Let’s Get Physical – Change Starts Today!

Today I started the "Let's Get Physical" weight loss challenge. I will be participating along with about 40 other women - most of whom I have never met. Over the next 8 weeks we will become a community striving to meet a common goal - to get fit and lose some weight in the process. During the challenge I will strive to reset my "lifestyle" and work toward being more healthy and fit. I hope to lose 15  pounds and to do so in a way that will enable me to keep it off. I am not looking at this as … [Read more...]

Desperately Seeking Focus (and Balance)

I have not recently posted an update on my progress toward my goals for this year.  Mostly because I have been lacking focus and sort of ignoring some of them.  When I am experiencing stress, I tend to ignore things - even those things that I know will make me feel better over the longer term.  The last month or so has seemed a bit more stressful than usual. I am going to attempt to re-set my focus and see how it goes.  I find that sometimes it is best for me to choose one thing at a time to … [Read more...]

2012 Aspirations – Happy New Year!

The start of a new year always fills me with hope and a renewed sense of passion about the people and things that I love. As you might gather, finding balance is one of my passions. This year my "resolutions" or as I prefer to think of them, my aspirations, are all related to finding that balance. I have a friend that had the idea that putting your aspirations (or whatever you choose to call them) out there for anyone to see will help make you accountable and thus help you reach what you … [Read more...]

Try This At Home

I am back at it - again.  I am trying to eat more healthfully and trying to be more active with the ultimate goal of losing 25 pounds.  It was my second fairly successful day in a row.  Considering my most recent attempts, this is an accomplishment. This Sunday I was able to do some meal prep for the week which always helps me to stay on track. Todays successes included: eating only one small bite of the warm cookie the nice lady gave me for free at the bakery (I couldn't turn it down, … [Read more...]
