30 Day Challenge – Move More!

I took a break from doing 30 day challenges during the holidays. I probably should have taken the break a month or two before I did - my last two challenges were a bit half hearted. I took January to reset - It’s a new year and I have new resolve. It’s time to get back to 30 day challenges. For me 30 day challenges are, in large part, about trying new things and forming new habits.  This month’s challenge isn’t so much about trying something new, but getting back to something and maybe … [Read more...]

30 Day Challenge – Getting Back to the Music

The last 6 weeks or so have been very busy. My 30 day challenge for October fell apart somewhere around October 20th and I decided that it would be futile to try to do a challenge in November. I am ready to give it another go, partially because I have been thinking of my December challenge since September. I am a musician, even though that is not what I spend most of my time doing now. I started playing music when I was 7 or 8 years old. The first instrument I wanted to play was the guitar, … [Read more...]

30 Day Challenge – 30 + 1 Days of Tricks and Treats

Did I mention that I love Halloween?  I love everything about it.  The decorations, haunted houses, costumes, candy, trick or treating - what's not to love?  I wanted this month's challenge to be in the spirit of Halloween so I am doing 30 + 1 days of tricks and treats.  I am soooo excited about this challenge. Some of the tricks and treats may be annonmous and others will not.  I am not applying many rules to this challenge - just that I spend the month passing along tricks and treats to … [Read more...]

30 Day Challenge – 30 Notes in 30 Days

The September challenge that I chose was particularly enjoyable. The challenge was 30 notes in 30 days. When I started the challenge, it was my intention to send a note every day. Whale I didn't send a note each day, I was able to send 30 notes over the course of the 30 days. I sent notes to old friends, to acquaintances and to people I hardly know. I sent notes to say thank you, notes to wish friends happy birthday, notes of appreciation, notes to just say "hello" and notes to let people know … [Read more...]

30 Day Challenge – 30 Notes in 30 Days

Last months 30 day challenge was random acts of kindness.  I am not sure if it was a success or a failure.  I am sure that I over thought it.  I was more cognizant of the way I responded to people and situations, but  the random part left me weighing the responses.  I kept  wondering if what I had done was a random act of kindness or if it was just something that I would normally have done (I hope that I am a kind person all of the time, not just randomly).  If it was something I normally would … [Read more...]

30 Day Challenge

Yesterday was the last day of my 30 day yoga challenge. July has 31 days and I hoped to do yoga at least 30 of those days. I was able to do yoga 29 days and I think that is pretty good considering all that was going on in July. I enjoyed my daily yoga very much. 28 of the 29 practices were done at home with the help of yogaglo.com. One was done in Millennium Park in Chicago as part of an event sponsored by Yazzo and Equinox fitness. It was a damp morning and the mats were wet, but I enjoyed … [Read more...]

30 Day Challenge – Yoga

I am 22 days into my daily yoga challenge and so far I have not missed a day! All of my practices have been selected from the YogaGlo website. I have not stepped foot in a yoga studio for a month! I have not felt as if it would be a good idea to go into a hot, moist studio to practice yoga and unfortunately the studio I belong to has no other viable choices for me. Even the Ashtunga classes I love are "lightly heated" which in the summer can mean it is upwards of 88 degrees in the room. I … [Read more...]

30 Day Challenge – Daily Yoga

Today starts a new 30 day challenge for me.  Wont you join me?  For the next 30 days I am going to attempt to practice yoga every day.  I am going to shoot for at least 20 minutes per day, more when I have the time.  I have been practicing yoga for about 5 years now.  I enjoy it very much and find it to be quite beneficial.  I have written other posts about the benefits of yoga - my blog is called Om Seeking Balance after all. During the five years I have practiced I have attempted, and not … [Read more...]

30 Day Challenge: Be Active – Day 30

On June 1, 2013 I made a personal challenge to be purposefully active for at least 15 minutes for the next 30 days.  Honestly, I thought I was setting the bar fairly low, I even felt a little guilty about setting such a low standard for myself.  What I found was the goal was not that low after all and on same days it was a challenge to achieve.  It is now June 30 and I am proud to say, I was able to be purposefully active for at least 15 minutes every day during the last 30 days! June turned … [Read more...]

BeFit Summer Yoga Series

With the BeFit GO series completed, LionsGate entertainment offered me the opportunity to share “Lower Body Yoga Workout” from MyYogaWorks, with you. I was honored and thankful to LionsGate for the opportunity. Yoga is something I know a little about as I have been practicing for about five years now. Whenever I drift away from a regular practice and then start practicing again, I remember all the reasons I love yoga. The benefits of Yoga include: Stress Reduction- Studies have … [Read more...]
