30 Day Challenge – 30 Notes in 30 Days

30 Notes in 30 Days

The September challenge that I chose was particularly enjoyable. The challenge was 30 notes in 30 days. When I started the challenge, it was my intention to send a note every day. Whale I didn’t send a note each day, I was able to send 30 notes over the course of the 30 days. I sent notes to old friends, to acquaintances and to people I hardly know. I sent notes to say thank you, notes to wish friends happy birthday, notes of appreciation, notes to just say “hello” and notes to let people know that I love them and am proud of them. I sent notes to people in California, South Dakota, North Carolina and Oregon. I mailed some notes and I hand delivered others.

As it turns out, people really enjoy getting notes. I am not sure why this surprises me, since I find getting a hand written note or letter very special. Several of the people who received notes thanked me, saying how much they appreciated getting the note and that the note made their day. It made me feel good that my notes made someone else feel good if only for a moment.

Now that the challenge is over, I will not likely continue to write as many notes as I did this past month, but this challenge has made me realize that a personal note is well worth the few minutes it takes to write. I will still send email and text messages, but I think that I might put pen to paper more often now that I have seen the impact a few simple words on a note card can have.
