30 Day Challenge – 30 + 1 Days of Tricks and Treats

Did I mention that I love Halloween?  I love everything about it.  The decorations, haunted houses, costumes, candy, trick or treating – what’s not to love?  I wanted this month’s challenge to be in the spirit of Halloween so I am doing 30 + 1 days of tricks and treats.  I am soooo excited about this challenge.

Some of the tricks and treats may be annonmous and others will not.  I am not applying many rules to this challenge – just that I spend the month passing along tricks and treats to friends and strangers alike.

Maybe you will be the recipient of one of  the tricks or treats that I have up my sleeve this month.  

For my first treat, I baked cookies to share – my take on an old family recipe.  I treated myself to a couple,  just to make sure they were good enough to share (of course).  This recipe makes a big batch of cookies.

I didn’t want to leave anyone out so if you didn’t get a bag of the cookies I baked – here is a treat for you!

Terri’s Crispy Chewy Jumble Cookies

1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup butter
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla

Cream together

2 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
sift together and mix with above

Then add:
1 cup quick oats
1 bag chcoloate chips
1 bag butterscotch chips
1 bag toffee chips
1 cup coconut
1 cup nuts
1 cup rice krispies

Mix all together. You will likely have to use your hands. Roll into balls the size walnuts for smallish cookies. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes or until light brown (it usually takes my oven longer than 10 minutes). Play with the add ins. If you don’t like nuts, don’t use them. If you prefer white chocolate chips, throw them in instead. Have mini M&M’s on hand – toss them in. You really can’t go wrong.
